FAQs

  • Renter’s Insurance is a policy that provides financial protection for a renter’s belongings and liability in the case of property damage or personal injury claims.

  • You, the tenant, are liable for any damages or loss.

  • You may scour the internet but we have found Lemonade to be the best deal on the market.

    1. Choose a method

      • App or software: Many insurance companies offer free apps for creating inventories.

      • Spreadsheet: Simple and easy—you can list everything in Excel or Google Sheets.

      • Notebook: Old-school, but still works if you keep it safe.

    2. Go room by room

      • Start in one room and list all your belongings.

      • Don’t forget closets, drawers, storage bins, and under the bed.

    3. Write down key details
      For each item, include:

      • Item name (ex: "Samsung TV")

      • Make/model/serial number if available

      • Purchase date and price (estimate if you don’t remember)

      • Where you bought it

    4. Take photos or videos

      • Walk through your home with your phone and film everything.

      • Snap photos of receipts or product labels.

    5. Save receipts (if possible)

      • Keep digital copies (scan or photo) of big purchases like electronics, jewelry, or furniture.

    6. Estimate value of collections

      • For books, DVDs, clothes, or other collections, you don’t have to list every single piece—group them together with an estimated value.

    7. Back it up

      • Store your inventory in the cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud) or email a copy to yourself so you don’t lose it.
